Automated design of hole drilling patterns for complex molds
Published on October 26, 2020
Increasing the efficiency of manufacturing tooling is critical when scaling up production. To optimize their performance, features such as conformal vent relief or vacuum holes must be added to molds. This can be a laborious process using traditional CAD tools.
In this nTop Live, Dr. Ryan O’Hara, Technical Director of Aerospace and Defence at nTop, first shows you how to quickly and easily generate patterns of holes on complex surfaces in nTop Platform. He then automatically processes these holes for use in Computer Aided Manufacturing software.
Watch and learn how to:
- Generate hole patterns on complex surfaces
- Perform thickness analysis to determine required drill depth
- Generate CAM files using nTop
