We’re pleased to announce that the nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT is now available in public beta for all nTop customers with EOSPRINT 2.14 or later. Built on our Implicit Interop technology, the nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT allows you to load nTop Implicit Files directly into EOSPRINT for slicing and manufacturing.

This nTop-designed bracket was imported directly into EOSPRINT for slicing.

The nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT eliminates the data exchange bottlenecks caused by meshing. Typical mesh files are large, hard to generate, and can compromise the accuracy of the part. In fact, meshing is impossible for some complex geometries. Transferring your designs using an nTop Implicit File and the nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT eliminates these issues.

Here are some of the advantages nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT has over meshes:

  • Smaller: nTop Implicit Files are typically only a few megabytes in size instead of gigabytes like traditional mesh files.
  • Faster: Files can be exported in seconds, and loading to EOSPRINT takes up to 60% less time than meshes.

Case study: Siemens Energy

Siemens Energy piloted the nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT to print a previously unmanufacturable heat exchanger. The nTop Implicit File was ~1MB in size, 99% smaller than a mesh, generated 500x faster, and sliced in EOSPRINT at maximum precision. Learn more about the project.

It’s an add-on plugin that enables you to import parts designed in nTop to EOSPRINT without meshing and prepare them for manufacturing directly from an nTop Implicit File (.implicit).

nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT is currently available to nTop users as a beta licensed product. It requires an nTop license and is compatible with EOSPRINT 2.14 or later. What type of mesh is this? Is it a quad mesh? Is it a CAD file?

None of the above. This plugin is based on Implicit Interop, a technology that uses nTop’s implicit modeling core engine. Instead of using surfaces, implicit modeling represents 3D solid geometry using a single mathematical equation. This is how we can achieve this level of compression at a lossless precision.

Is this plugin compatible with my version of EOSPRINT and AM system?

The nTop Plugin for EOSPRINT is compatible with EOSPRINT version 2.14 or later and can be used with any additive manufacturing system supported by EOSPRINT. To upgrade to the latest version of EOSPRINT, please visit myEOS Customer Portal or contact your EOS representative.
